Per reftel instructions, post on May 9 discussed the third 
Meeting of the Parties (MOP-3) to the Cartagena Protocol on 
Biosafety with Sigurdur Thrainsson, Icelandic Ministry of 
the Environment Head of Division in the Office of Nature 
Conservation and Quality of Life.  Thrainsson attended the 
MOP-3 but reports that Iceland has yet to take any actions 
tied to implementation of decisions taken in Curitiba.  He 
said that Iceland, as a member of the EEA, is awaiting a 
European directive on how to proceed based on the MOP-3's 
outcome.
